I asked ChatGPT why people like leather so much, apparently for various reasons, including durability, versatility, style, and comfort. ChatGPT added that in addition to these practical reasons, some people also like leather because of its natural beauty and unique texture and that, of course, not everyone likes leather. Some people find it too expensive, and others have ethical concerns about the use of animal products.

Thank you, ChatGPT.

I love leather because it is timeless, durable, sleek, and sexy. Leather improves with age; you know a leather garment is a forever piece. Case in point: most of the looks this week are old pieces I cherish a lot. We've been wearing leather since Cro-Magnon, and God was quick to dress Adam and Eve with coats of skin to avoid the embarrassment of walking naked in Heaven.
So, let's go full leather this week with timeless pieces.

Look #1 is an A-line midi leather skirt from Aje. Aje is an Australian brand that makes cute dresses. Too much froufrou for me sometimes, but this skirt was what I was looking for. For this look and the following, I got somewhat inspired by the Prada RTW Fall 2023; I know who hasn't. Ask Mango; they have been literal. The T-shirt is from Tibi, and the jacket is from COS; it is well-made. The shoes are my Prada's obsession for this season. I will keep them under a glass dome.

On look #2, I am wearing leather culottes from Tibi Resort 2019 that I have worn a million times. I tore the pocket and had it repaired, and I won't let them go. The cashmere sweater is from Buck Mason's men's collection. I was looking for a light gray one at a reasonable price - there is no point in buying expensive cashmere; regardless of the cost, it will peel over time, so over $300, think twice. The Chanel bag is a vintage impulse purchase I will cherish forever.

Look #3 are pants from Tibi from last year with the classic oversized fit suit jacket from Acne and 2019 Venus shoes from The Attico. These pants are everyday wear; you can wear them all year long, and they fit everybody. Easy to dress up or down. I love the ease of it.

To end this leather saga, look #4 is another old purchase I adore. It is from the Attico Spring/Summer 2019 collection. Note the red sandals plus red tights were already there in 2019. Hold your breath. I know Tibi has created a fandom of sandals wearers with socks, but let's be honest; Birkenstock was the OG. What matters here are the pants. I hope menopause will be kind to me so I can wear them for many years. The shoes are from Balmain, a frivolous sales purchase, surprisingly comfortable, and the top is from Tibi - I know. I didn't want to end with Tibi. I did, sorry. I am still hoping to write a newsletter without any Tibi in it. I am not trying to convert you, my dear readers. Plus, honestly, their fans scare me a bit - in a good way - but the obsession is real. It is an era in my style; I wear Tibi a lot now and will eventually stop. Similarly, I wore Ulla Johnson a lot, and it doesn't speak to me anymore. C'est la vie.

With love from Fannie
