FS 081523 - Jumpsuit fits everybody

Did I mention that I like jumpsuits?

According to Google, a jumpsuit is a "one-piece garment with sleeves and legs and typically without integral coverings for feet, hands or head. The original jumpsuit is the functional one-piece garment used by parachutists created in 1919."
The key word here is one-piece. Top + bottom combined = one-piece = total look, and you're done. Jumpsuits are versatile, offer a blank canvas, and are easy to dress down/up and accessorize. Options are all yours.

In her blue utility jumpsuit, Rosie the Riveter showed us the way. For me, wearing a jumpsuit is a confidence boost. Don't shy away from jumpsuits; I know it can be intimidating at first, but I promise your wardrobe will thank you later.

I overwear my jumpsuits, and it shows on my annual New Year photo - I just realized that. The only thing I struggle with is what jacket/coat to wear with a jumpsuit, I have yet to find the answer to that, and all my attempts were a total fail. If you have the answer, I would love to hear it.

On look #1, I wear a jumpsuit from Aje; I admit this one is super tricky, which contradicts what I said above. It has wide (very) legs; the fabric is heavy linen. I packed it for three trips to warm and humid destinations, and it came back home unworn. I have worn it less than five times, and the cost per wear is still super high at this stage; I regret not buying it on sale. If I cannot go over the ten wears by the end of the summer, I will sell it - more on that in another edition.

Look #2 is from Rachel Comey; she does a good jumpsuit. That would be the best designer to start your jumpsuit apprenticeship with. I love this one for hot weather; I wear it with a swimsuit from Eres. The only caveat is that the material is cupro, and your body lotion can transfer, so the best is to avoid wearing any and putting your perfume before to prevent stains.

Look #3 is from Rachel Comey, also a classic The Barrie, the most versatile.
If you want to channel your inner Diana Ross, the best bet is Yves Saint Laurent. They are the ultimate symbol of empowerment. The spring 2022 ready-to-wear collection was a jumpsuit festival. Yves Saint Laurent once said, "Chanel freed women, and I empowered them." Vacarello understood the assignment with this collection, which is still available with some retailers.

With love from Fannie
