FS 051923 - Conquistador look
I have been looking for a perfectly stiff denim shirt for a while - rigid, raw denim, fitted with nacre buttons, and Acne Studios did it. She could be unisex. She brings rigor and irony. I love her; for me, she is a have-to-have. If you choose a less fitted option and have an hourglass body type, you want to accentuate your waist because that is the slimmest part of your body, so the best trick is to knot your shirt.
I paired her with the Nili Lotan harem pants, the best cost-per-wear ever. Nili doesn't do them anymore; I would have bought ten pairs if I had known. Tibi has some good balloon pants as a substitute. They are my go-to pants when I don't know what to wear. They work best with a fitted top. If you're taller than 5'6'', balloon pants tend to be shorter, so boots height matters; you don't want a sandwich effect, i.e., for your skin to show between your boots and pants - that's a no-no.
This outfit is a confidence booster. The point boots from Bottega Veneta add to the sharpness of the look. The ladies at the dentist's office loved it. On my way out, this woman abruptly stopped to yell from her car window, "Girl, I love your outfit." Wow factor validated.
For the accessories, I kept it simple with oversized hoops and the mini Jodie bag, who is such a good friend I wish I owned all rainbow colors. He is big enough for what I need and small enough for what I don't need; he is an equalizer bag.
Today, I will make thoughtful decisions with my conquistador look, minus the armor.
With love from Fannie
